Barry J Daniel began working with timber as a child, and now specialises in is creating designer, Australian made, vintage-style timber furniture.

 

At 14 years old, Barry became an apprentice builder, later becoming a Master Builder in Muswellbrook, NSW Australia. Over the years he introduced his passion for design and quality into many residential and commercial developments. Semi-retirement in the early 1980's saw Barry open an Antique Shop in his home town of Muswellbrook. Loxton House Antiques allowed Barry to indulge in his other passion of collecting old and interesting items.

 

With the continual growth of the Antique store, moving from shop to larger shop around Muswellbrook an opportunity arose in 1988 to purchase the old Freidman Store in Wingen New South Wales. The Store had been trading in the one family since 1872 as a general store. Due to the age and nature of the buildings it provided a natural ambience for Burning Mountain Antiques to be born. Wingen was a new beginning and direction with father and son (Barry and Stephen Daniel) now working together.

 

Succumbing to his childhood passion to build with timber, Barry, began to work more in the workshop whilst Stephen ran the Antique Store. After dealing in Industrial Antiques from industries such as Arnotts, BHP, NSW Railways, Cockatoo Island and others, Barry has developed a range of recycled timber products with an industrial influence. Working with his hands instead of heavy machinery, Barry is able to reveal the natural beauty of the recycled timber he is using and enhance it with a natural polish. In the workshop Barry manufactures furniture made from recycled timbers specialising in large industrial recycled cypress pine tables, benches and kitchen islands. Furniture can also be made to order.

During the 30 plus years dealing in the antique trade, Barry has developed a gentle touch with furniture restoration preferring to use natural products for the refinishing and nourishing of old timber surfaces.

 

The Antique Shop is now run by Stephen with support from his wife Rachel and father Barry, we have also introduced a range of Classique Giftware to complement the vast range of Antiques and Industrial inspired furniture.
